What is in weaving?
Weaving sharpens the senses,
stimulates sensitivity to colour and touch,
teaches discipline, requires concentration
and creativity in problem solving.
I have been fascinated
by complexity of the weaving process,
the meditative repetition of movements
and most of all virtually unlimited
opportunities to design and to create.
Hours of working with variety of strands
and their texture, colour and weave pattern,
passing through fingers many times
kilometres of yarn
result in something magic – piece of fabric.
My favourite moment
is the appearance of a pattern.
Sometimes you can see it while weaving
and the fabric is still on the loom.
Sometimes you need to wash it and press
for the pattern to show in full splendour.
The thought that someone is using
or wearing something I’ve woven
makes me smile,
